Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide education and programs to support families with PKU and the University of Washington PKU Clinic

Purpose

The PKU Action Group of the University of Washington PKU/Biochemical Genetics Clinic will act as an advisory committee to the PKU Clinic in order to have input into service delivery to persons with PKU and their families.

Responsibilities

  • To promote better understanding of the services and policies of the PKU Clinic among other related patient groups, and parents or guardians of children.
  • To assist in promoting good relationships between the PKU Clinic and members of the community served by the PKU Clinic.
  • To review recommendations and concerns identified by parents, parent associations, or other individuals and refer them to the leadership of the PKU Clinic.
  • To provide input regarding program development as requested by the PKU Clinic.
  • To assist in the planning of new facilities and services with the PKU Clinic.

The PKU Action Group (PAG) was formed in 1999 by parents of children with PKU. The PAG's two goals are to establish a volunteer organization to educate and support families and individuals with PKU, and to act as an advisory resource to the University of Washington PKU/Biochemical Genetics Clinic.

The PKU Action Group is a registered Washington State nonprofit corporation, and is exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
